HOMEWORK POLICY and EXPECTATIONS
A clear and effective homework
policy will mean that quality and
quantity of homework can be
easily tracked and all stakeholders
are on the same page.
The purpose of homework:
1. Provide learners with the opportunity to work on an
activity that is relevant to learning outcomes, or that contributes to gaining better understanding
2. Reinforce skills and understanding of material that has ALREADY been taught
3. Develop a partnership between the school and parents that aims to develop learners
4. Review and reinforce prior learning
5. Purposeful Practice!
What homework should NOT be:
1. Busy work that is not purposeful
2. New learning that has not been introduced by the teacher first
3. Work that needs parents to be the teacher at home
