Transitioning to Preschool
Starting preschool is an exciting milestone for children and families. It is normal for children to experience a range of emotions as they learn new routines, build relationships, and become comfortable in a new environment.
Some children adjust quickly, while others may need additional time and reassurance. Our staff is committed to building strong relationships and creating a welcoming environment where children feel safe, supported, and connected.
Families are encouraged to communicate with their child ' s teacher whenever questions or concerns arise during the transition process.
A Typical Day at SELC
While daily schedules vary slightly by classroom, a typical day includes: Arrival and Breakfast
Children are welcomed into the classroom, store their belongings, wash their hands, and enjoy breakfast as they begin their day.
Tinkering Time
Children engage in hands-on activities designed to encourage creativity, problem-solving, fine motor development, and exploration.
Hypothesis Time
Children participate in greetings, discussions, songs, classroom routines, and inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage wondering, predicting, and sharing ideas.
Exploration Time
Children choose from a variety of learning areas throughout the classroom, including opportunities for literacy, math, science, dramatic play, art, blocks, sensory experiences, and STEAM learning.
