Step 2:
Next you will need to raise both hands/arms above your head and repeat the steps in
number one.
If you have any of these symptoms, whether it be with your hands above your head or
at your hips, you should check with your doctor for further evaluation!
You can check your breasts while laying, sitting, standing, etc. and it’s very important
to try at least 2 different positions while checking. We are going to go with standing to
continue the exam, feel free to choose whichever way you feel most comfortable.
Step 3:
Raise your right arm above your head and put your middle and index fingers (left hand)
together and place them on to your right breast. Begin to move your fingers in a circular
motion (the size of a quarter) making sure to cover the entire area of your breast checking
for any lumps, bumps or soreness.
Once you have finished with your right breast, repeat those steps with your left breast as
well.
When doing a self-exam, what you’re really looking for is any changes in your breasts that
may have not been there before. It is important to create a road map of your breasts so that
you will notice changes if or when they do happen.
