AmAndA And Beth
We saved the readings for the evening do , where some of our friends and family had pre-planned speeches . We each chose vows based on how much they fitted in with our values and ourselves . We both walked into the ceremony individually , with our dads by our sides and bridesmaids following behind . Our mams each signed our marriage certificate .
The registrar was vey theatrical , which was quite entertaining . She referred to our brother Toby as ‘ Frodo ’ – a name he did not live down for the rest of the evening ! After the ceremony we had some time before the tide came in ( meaning we had to leave the island ), so we had photographs with our nearest and dearest . We then left our guests to enjoy the drinks and sweet treats while we climbed the many spiralling stairs to the top of the lighthouse , where we had some photographs together .
The reception started as the sun was setting – the sky looked so beautiful . Our photographers captured this insanely well and we have some great shots of us together with the sunset in the background !
Our reception venue , Crusoes , was a place that many see by day but few see by night , as it ’ s used predominantly for
wedding receptions . There ’ s a strong travel theme within , with a hand-painted map covering one of the walls .
A few of our loved ones had helped us to decorate the tables . Each had a different centrepiece , linking to the theme of travel and seaside . We made a ‘ sweet treat table ’ where our guests could fill their ‘ pick and mix ’ bags . The venue provided balloons , food and the DJ . Rather than the traditional toast with cava , we opted for the sangria fountain to further add to our theme .
We had an abundance of speeches , followed by delicious food . Afterwards we all headed out to the beach where we lit sparklers and attempted to light bio-degradable lanterns … it felt pretty magical .
Then we cut our beautiful cake ( made by a very talented friend of mine ) followed by lots of dancing . The DJ played a variety of songs to accommodate all our guests ; we even had a bit of ‘ moshing ’ going on .
‘... there was such a huge sense of inner calm , joy and utter love . It was honestly like a fairytale .’ pink weddings magazine » 11
