Glencoe

A few notes: Piedmont’s chart topping status as the top
team in both the last 5 years and 10 years comes on the
strength of a 7 year run from 2007-13 that saw the Bulldogs
post double digit win totals in all of those seasons…Piedmont
won 79 games during that seven year span…In the last 25
years, Alexandria has only had two losing seasons (’02,
’13)…Alexandria had 11 double digit win seasons in those
25 years…Cedar Bluff in that span of years had 13 seasons
with 9 or more wins…In the 2000-2009 decade, Clay County
did not have a losing season and an incredible 7 years with
12 wins or more…The 1990s saw four area schools win 100
or more games in that decade, averaging 10 plus wins per
season. Those four schools were Clay County, Alexandria,
Etowah, and Lineville…Oxford’s domination of the 1980s
came mainly as a result of not having a losing record in any
year of the decade…In the 1970s, West End, Glencoe and
Ohatchee were virtually even…West End had one more win
than Ohatchee, but also had two more losses. The Indians,
however, had three ties to only 1 for the West End…Glencoe
had four less victories than West End and three less than
Ohatchee, but the Yellow Jackets also had 5 less losses than
the Patriots and three less than the Indians and only one tie.
