I think teachers are heroes. I think the ones who teach 6 th, 7 th, and 8 th Graders should be given some kind of Nobel Prize. As a parent, nothing prepared me for the onslaught of 6 th grade. It’ s a wonder any of my three kids made it through.
For the Hope section of this inaugural issue I wanted to write a story about a teacher. These individuals who keep our children in their care for the majority of the day are so important to our society. In my mind, we can never thank them enough.
I believe the ability to teach is a gift, but it definitely isn’ t one of my gifts. I was having trouble thinking of a story to tell from a teacher’ s perspective. Honestly, I was having trouble figuring out just why anyone would want to be a teacher in the first place.
I reached out to a good friend of mine who teaches 7 th grade for some assistance. Her story is touching, truthful, and full of hope. I hope you’ ll enjoy it as much as I did.
