As the transformation of vacant indoor spaces into popular pickleball clubs continues throughout the country, northern New Jersey may be home to one of the very best. SPORTIME Pickleball in the town of Wayne has a plethora of amenities and programs resonating with pickleballers living and working in the shadow of New York City.
SPORTIME Pickleball Wayne opened as the largest dedicated pickleball club in northern New Jersey. The facility, designed to be a destination site for competitive and social events as well as a local pickleball hub, features 18 indoor, cushioned, climatecontrolled courts including a stadium court, multiple player lounges, private event spaces, a dinking wall, and uniquely spacious and well-oriented viewing and social areas.
“ There is a passionate community of pickleball players in northern and central New Jersey and the response to our facility in Wayne from that community has been tremendously positive,” said Claude Okin, president and CEO of SPORTIME Clubs.
“ The majority of our 18 courts have been filled on most weeknights and on weekend mornings through early afternoon during the peak indoor season. It will take time to continue to grow that community, and to create a new community of junior players, to increase our court utilization and program densities during off-peak times.”
SPORTIME Clubs has been involved in the racket sports industry for over three decades and has been the largest operator of tennis courts in the New York area. Its foray into the world of pickleball comes on the heels of the sport’ s continual explosive growth across the country.
