FROM THE USAPA
USAPA YEAR IN
R view
BY BOB NIBARGER, USAPA COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR
I
just opened my iPhone calendar application and
at the time of this writing there were only 87 days
left until New Year’s Eve. Wow, where has this year
gone, and wow again as I reflect back on the USAPA
accomplishments for 2017! Our January magazine will
feature many of the accomplishments either in the works
or completed by the USAPA during the 2017 calendar year.
Some of the highlights include:
• USAPA Hires Drew Wathey as Managing Director of
Athletic Programs
• USAPA Explores Partnership with AAU
• USAPA Launches New Mobile App
• USAPA Juniors Web Page Goes Live
• USAPA Hosts St. Jude Tournament and Raises Over
$6,000 for Kids
• USAPA Expands Regional Districts
• USAPA Announces and Supports New Pickleball Hall
of Fame
• USAPA Launches New Member Rewards Program
• USAPA Launches the New Places2Play Website and
Corresponding Apple Mobile App
This is just a taste of the numerous USAPA board
initiatives that are either planned or in the works.
We are always looking for interesting stories about
your clubs and programs. Our contact email address is
[email protected]. Have a safe and joyous holiday
season and remember to “keep your paddle up.” •
CJ Jermstad Elected
New USAPA
Vice President
C
arrie (CJ) Jermstad was elected Vice President by the
USAPA Board of Directors at its October meeting. She will
be joining newly elected President Jack Thomas beginning in
January. These two positions became available after David
Jordan, current USAPA President, announced that he will
not be continuing in the role. Jordan has served as USAPA
President since 2007, succeeding Dennis Dacey. Jermstad will
continue to work with the USAPA Ambassador Program along
with USAPA staff member Drew Wathey.
Congratulations to CJ as she begins her new position in
January of 2018! •
