ationals VIII took place from
November 5-13 at the Palm Creek
Golf & RV Resort in Casa Grande,
Arizona, breaking nearly every record
previously set in the first seven years of
the competition.
A total of 858 players, representing
36 states and two provinces,
participated in 2,088 matches over the
8-day festivities in Casa Grande. Of
course, the tournament would not have
been a success if it wasn’t for the record
500+ volunteers and 180 referees
that helped the event run smoothly,
including the certification of each and
every match.
While some people may have had
Thanksgiving on their minds, in Casa
Grande, it was a cloudless 85 degrees
and sunny the entire week, resulting in
thousands of spectators coming out to
enjoy the competition. That was good
news for vendors, who converged on
the tournament from all corners of the
U.S.
The event kicked off on Saturday,
Nov. 5, with the Men’s age group events
(19+, 35+, 50+, 55+, 60+, & 65+). The
featured match showcased Wesley
Gabrielsen and Kyle Yates taking the
gold over Matthew Staub and Daniel
Moore in the Men’s 19+.
