POCT plays a critical role in helping our care team and patients confirm various conditions, including:
• PCR respiratory illness testing( COVID, RSV, Strep A)
• Hemoglobin A1C( Diabetes monitoring)
• Urinalysis testing
• Urine pregnancy
• Blood glucose levels
Because POCT happens near the site of patient care, outside of a traditional laboratory setting, patients often collaborate with their care team right away after results are received..
New Integration Improving Workflow Launched Nov. 4
To continue providing essential and advanced care, the Point of Care team has announced that starting Tuesday, Nov. 4, the process for our MAs entering critical POCT data will no longer be manual. Instead, lab tests will now be processed more efficiently and securely in just a matter of seconds through EPIC integration and will be available almost immediately in a patient ' s MyChart.
Thanks to the dedication of the Point of Care team, this project is an exciting step toward improving timely, accurate testing for patients while easing workflow and improving communication for our care teams..
Renown Transplant Institute Performs First Live Donor Kidney Transplant, Local Mother Gives Daughter the Ultimate Gift of Life
Renown Health, a founding member of the Nevada Transplant Institute, proudly announced a historic milestone; the Renown Transplant Institute successfully performed its first living donor kidney transplant, marking a new chapter in advanced patient care for northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding region.
The two sequential donor and recipient surgical procedures united a local mother, Melanie Davis and her daughter, Lanie Hope Smith. Melanie donated one of her kidneys to Lanie, who was living with end stage kidney disease. Both surgeries were performed on Monday, Aug. 11 at Renown Regional Medical Center by the highly skilled Renown Transplant Institute surgeons.
