Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health have completed the transaction to finalize their joint venture to operate a health plan and new outpatient care delivery system in northern Nevada. Under the agreement, Hometown Health— the health plan previously owned by Renown Health— is now jointly owned by Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health. This joint venture marks Kaiser Permanente’ s entry into northern Nevada, expanding access to high quality, value-based care in local communities and represents an important advancement in the organization’ s ongoing strategy to extend value-based care to additional communities across the United States.

What’ s staying the same:
• Patients can continue seeing their Renown Health care team. No action is required.
• Patients continue to have access to participating Renown Medical Group clinicians, Renown specialists and Renown facilities.

Has Kaiser Permanente acquired Renown Health?
No. Renown Health remains an independent, locally governed not-for-profit integrated academic health system. Renown Health will continue to operate independently as a not-for-profit health system.
Will Renown continue to accept other insurance plans? Yes. Renown Health will continue to accept most major insurance plans.
Can Kaiser Permanente members receive care at Renown?
Kaiser Permanente members may access Renown hospital and specialty services based on their individual plan benefits and coverage. Starting in 2027, members enrolled in Kaiser Permanente coverage will have access to coordinated care through Kaiser Permanente and Renown Health, including primary care, specialty care, pharmacies and labs.
