• Help contribute to the advancement of medicine and development of the future treatment of M / NASH .
As HNP enrollees , participants in the M / NASH sub-study will receive access to free genetic sequencing for several CDC Tier 1 conditions – including Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Syndrome , Familial Hypercholesterolemia and Lynch Syndrome — as well as high-level ancestry and dietary insights .
How Do I Enroll My Patients ? What Happens Next ?
1 . Place a referral to Genetic Research studies within Epic .
2 . A Renown Genomic Representative will be assigned to your patient to answer questions and help them through the consent process . Patients must be willing to provide a small blood or saliva sample for DNA sequencing and a small blood sample for ELF testing . The FDA-approved ELF test helps identify people most at risk for progressing to cirrhosis and liver-related outcomes , including M / NASH .
3 . After your patient has consented , the Genomic Representative will explain next steps for their sample collection .
4 . The patient will attend their lab appointment to complete their study requirements . You will receive the results of their ELF test within one week and DNA sequencing within 12 weeks .
The clinical team , comprised of Dr . Catherine McCarthy , Dr . Leslie Greenberg and Jamie Schnell-Blitstein , APRN , will contact your patient to deliver ELF test results and make recommendations for high and moderate risk results . Patients are encouraged to follow up with their referring provider to coordinate follow-up care , which is outside of the scope of the study and subject to the patient ’ s insurance .
If the patient has a positive finding for a CDC Tier 1 condition , the HNP team will reach out to the patient to deliver results and encourage scheduling a no-cost , one-time genetic counseling session with our partners , Helix and Genome Medical . We also send the referring provider a note to follow up with the patient on next steps . If the patient has a negative finding , their provider will be copied on the result and are encouraged to communicate the negative result to their patients .
