welcome you. Curators, preservationists,
gardeners, and interpreters will guide
you through the House and grounds, and

Archaeologists will explain and demonstrate
the process of excavating a historic site, and
invite you to put down your camera and try
your hand at unearthing a piece of history.
The attached list specifies many
opportunities for on-site photography. Most
will be scheduled, several are available
should inclement weather present challenges,
and several will be optional, for those
moments when you wish to explore the
bucolic setting on your own. Whether you shoot with the latest
mirrorless full frame camera, a smart phone,
or something in between, everyone will find
this expedition to be a unique and exciting
opportunity to experience and photograph
living history. Experienced photographers
will provide guidance and personal
instruction.
All meals will be provided to maximize the
amount of photographic time. Limited on-
site lodging is available on a first-come first-
served basis. More upscale accommodations
can be found in nearby Orange, VA through
“The Inns of Montpelier.” Charlottesville
