Philosophy Today June 2014 | Page 4

Dear Readers,

I hope this issue finds you enjoying the start of summer.

This month’s issue is based on the philosophical strand ethics. Ethics involves systematizing, defentding and recommending concepts of right and wrong conduct, often addressing disputes of moral diversity. Ethics can be about the way we each live our own life, but mostly it is about the ways we interact with one another. With this being said, we chose to narrow this issue’s focus on the concept of good. In a more specific sense, this issue will dive into the idea of a “good person”. The key question that will be addressed throughout the issue is the question of, “what exactly constitutes a good person”? This is a controversial and in-depth philosophical question that we have enjoyed working with throughout this issue of the magazine.

This issue includes a variety of interesting articles, including various analyses of current events that have to do with the idea of a good person, an article about how ethics fit into society, and a film review, among other things. The letters to the editor are centered on the topic of "the good life" that was looked at last issue.

I hope that you enjoy this issue of Philosophy Today. Please write to us with any comments and/or input about our magazine and the content of this issue.

Yours Truly,

Amanda Kay
