Vice Ganda recovering
after operation
Vice Ganda is now recovering
after undergoing a procedure to
address the kidney stones that had
been causing him “severe abdominal
pains,” the box-office superstar’s
sister said Monday.
In a message to ABS-CBN News’
Mario Dumaual, Dr. Tina Viceral
detailed Vice Ganda’s condition, and
the medical procedures that had to
be done to address it.
The comedian had been
rushed to the hospital over the
weekend, forcing the cancellation
of his appearance at an Ilocos Sur
festival and his absence from “It’s
Showtime,” the noontime show he
regularly co-hosts.
Dr. Viceral said: “Vice had
ureteral colic, a condition when
a stone from the kidney falls and
gets stuck in the tube connecting
the kidney to the urinary bladder.
Urine could not pass, resulting in a
pressure buildup in the kidney, thus
the pain.
“The first plan for Vice was
extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy
to fragment the stone in the ureter
and using IV contrast to locate the
stone. However, even with the IV
contrast, the stone remained not
targetable so the urologist revised
the treatment plan to cystoscopy,
insertion of stent.
“This is a minimally invasive
procedure which bypasses the
obstructing stone. This allows urine
to pass thus relieving the pain. He is
being given a medication to dissolve
the stones.”
According to Dr. Viceral, Vice
Ganda was discharged from the
hospital Sunday night. “He is on his
way to recovery,” she said, adding
Vice Ganda can resume work
Wednesday.
“Thank you to all of you who
prayed for Vice!” Dr. Viceral said.
Aside from being a mainstay
of “It’s Showtime,” Vice Ganda is
juggling work as judge on the top-
rating “Pilipinas Got Talent,” and as
host of his eponymous late-night talk
show “Gandang Gabi Vice.”●

‘It’s driving us nuts!’ : Sharon
on neighbor’s construction
The megastar Sharon Cuneta is
not one to mess with, especially when
it comes to disturbing the peace in
her home.
On her official Facebook page
on Monday, Cuneta shared how her
upstairs neighbor’s construction in
his condo, which has allegedly been
ongoing for almost a year now, “is
driving us nuts!”
“We are sleep-deprived and
the noise is very stressful for me,
my husband and and my children
when we are home,” the megastar
complained. She added that despite
“living in a beautiful building that has
its own hotel and restaurants (and
that cost more than what I sold our
Wack-Wack house for?!),” the noise
“still makes us all want to move
out and check into a nearby hotel
or transfer to a house or another
condo!”
“It’s just that we’ve been told
over and over for about a year now
already that it would take ‘just one
month or two na lang…’ and we
are so sick and tired of hearing it,”
Cuneta let out her frustration.
Sharing that she palpitates when
anticipating the noise, the actress-
reality show judge said it was the
last straw when the loud hammering
disturbed her sleep. “And if you’ve
ever been in my position, you know
how WAKING UP LIKE THAT DOES
NOT MAKE FOR A PLEASANT
FIRST SEVERAL MINUTES!”
“I won’t say day because I have
so much else to be happy about,”
she said looking on the bright side.
“But please, please Lord let this end
soon. I might as well have moved
back to Dasma or Forbes. Would’ve
cost me just a little more to do so. ”
Ending her complaint post, she
then joked “she loves unicorns now
besides owls,” but still pleaded “dios
miyo ayudame (God, help me)!”●
