Diane Garcia of Max’s Restaurant Vancouver with officers & representatives from the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, Philippine Canada Trade Council and Max’s Restaurant celebrated its fifth year in business Philippine Canadian Inquirer. in Vancouver with a big celebration at its restaurant on Kingsway in Burnaby last May 19. Guests included Philippine Consul General Neil Ferrer and Deputy Consul General Leo Tito Ausan, Jr., who has been recently assigned to Vancouver. Ferrer thanked Max’s Restaurant for always being supportive of the Filipino community and its activities, especially during the month of June, when Philippine Independence Day is celebrated by many Filipino communities in the Lower Mainland. Chris Garcia, franchise owner of the Max’s branch in Vancouver, flew in from the Philippines with his wife, Diane and their children, to celebrate the occasion. The Garcias frequent Vancouver, but live in the Philippines. Garcia related the story of how it was necessary to undergo the Entertainment provided by Mayo Landicho and Company process of bringing three chefs of Max’s in the Philippines (Benny and Tonette). to ensure that the Filipinos in Vancouver have an authentic Max’s meal, just like the ones they have at home. He also said that the franchise also hired servers for this branch from the Philippines as part of this authentic presentation of the restaurant to Vancouverites. Cecille Pratt, the managing director of Max’s in Vancouver, all helped launch the newest addition to the franchise - a Max’s foodtruck that would go around the city and make the Max’s brand name known to all Vancouverites, not just Filipinos.
