The International Phalaenopsis Alliance presents The Twentieth Phalaenopsis Symposium August 8 & 9, 2014 Carlos Fighetti & Carri Raven-Riemann T he Ontario Airport Hotel & Conference Center, in Ontario, California, will serve as this summer’s headquarters for the IPA Symposium, offering a very attractive $89 per night room rate for a single or double room. The meeting rooms are quite spacious, and the guest rooms are comfortable. In addition to dining facilities at the hotel itself, this airport area boasts a multitude of fine restaurants, several of which are close to the host hotel. The Registration Form and additional information are included in this issue of the IPA Journal and are also available for download at our website, www.phal.org. Please be aware of the deadlines, especially for the hotel reservations, as we expect to have great participation at the Symposium this year and do not want you to miss being able to book your room at the host hotel. This year we’ve invited two exceptional hobby growers to join us as speakers. Our Keynote Speaker will be Mr. Yang Yang, a hobby grower from Tainan, Taiwan. Mr. Yang is a renowned collector of Phalaenopsis species and primary hybrids in Taiwan. He has been growing and propagating Phalaenopsis for over ten years and has produced some exceptional progeny. The subject of his talk will be “Phal. gigantea & its Complex Hybrids”. Our second invited speaker is Mike Mims, a well-known indoor hobbyist from Asheville, North Carolina, who will give us an overview of his hybridizing program for fragrant primary and complex Phalaenopsis novelties.
