Scaling ProTec

IMAGINE A world where your responsibilities are streamlined and your team has access to industry experts whenever they need additional insight . It sounds like a dream , doesn ’ t it ? But this is precisely what Dave Rauch , Founder and CEO of ProTec Building Services , envisioned 27 years ago for Community Managers nationwide . Today , his company provides this service to over 1,300 HOAs and the number continues to grow .
ABOUT PROTEC
Mainly servicing Southern California and Southern Nevada , ProTec specializes in the maintenance , repair , construction , plumbing , and inspection of common areas and buildings for Community Managers and the HOAs they manage . With the purpose of improving the quality of life for communities across America , ProTec is a hassle-free , one-stop shop for HOAs that need a comprehensive and reliable building maintenance company to help support , service , and maintain their community .
To achieve these goals , ProTec has secured almost 900 ongoing maintenance contracts throughout their service areas . This means that when an issue arises at one of their HOAs , they can send a professional immediately and keep their brand promise of getting the job done . However , they did not achieve this level of success and efficiency without help .
THE ROAD TO PETRA
Over the years , as ProTec continued to grow and evolve , Dave noticed a key issue emerging . It wasn ’ t related to the ideation or execution of the business model but rather the ability to scale ProTec beyond a certain point . In other words , ProTec had hit its proverbial “ glass ceiling ,” and Dave was determined to push past it and take his business to the next level .
Dave has always been an avid reader of business-related books , consistently reading at least one per week . However , it wasn ’ t until he discovered Verne Harnish ’ s Mastering the Rockefeller Habits that he believed he had found the tools necessary to grow ProTec beyond its plateau . After contacting Verne via email , Dave attended multiple conferences hosted by Verne , where Dave learned about the ScalingUp process and then attempted self-implementation for two years .
At this point , the issue wasn ’ t that Dave lacked the vision or necessary tools to scale ProTec ; it was that he lacked the professional expertise to effectively implement these strategies and achieve the company ’ s targets . Let ’ s face it . This was a significant undertaking on top of his existing responsibilities within the organization . So , in 2016 , Dave made the decision to hire a professional coach to assist with ProTec ’ s scaling journey . While the partnership
