Dress code is supposed to keep people from wearing inappropriate clothes. But does it? Teachers don’t normally even say anything about it and they end up wearing it again. I believe that we shouldn’t have a dress code. I think we are mature enough to wear proper clothing and we will not take advantage of it.
Students don’t like the fact that they can’t have their hair a certain way. I mean why can’t we dye our hair blue? Yes, I know what people say “It creates a distraction.” But, it’s really not maybe for adults but that’s not the students problem. And yeah, we’re lucky cause we don’t have to wear uniforms but we still want our freedom.
Stores don’t carry long shorts and if they do maybe they don’t fit everyone’s body type. So , some students are stuck wearing pants and that’s really uncomfortable. Also, since there’s a dress code you can’t cut pants because the fringes can’t show. Then some people definitely wear pants.
In addition kids don’t have time to do laundry throughout the week and since there’s a dress code that means somehow some kids have to find time to fit laundry into their schedule. People don’t like that they have to wear clothes over and over again. I t’s not right. Teachers don’t mind about dress code because they're inside all the time and they don’t have P.E. They also don’t have to worry about the length of shorts they wear slacks and stuff. And yes, people say “ well who cares what the shorts look like.” But every kid likes to have “ cool clothes” and when kids are happier they achieve more.
In conclusion, I am against the dress code it needs some major changes. People want freedom in what they wear they don’t want rules. Stores don’t carry long shorts and teachers don’t even care because they stay inside and don’t have to worry about it. Students don’t like the redundancy of wearing clothes over and over again.
