Michelle: I think that it was already harder because we always had to talk to teachers about it and get the approval of everything we were doing- that was kind of challenging and it took more time.
Mada: I guess the programs and stuff that we wanted to get into were open to us. There are a lot of opportunities for younger developers
What would your advice be for other young adults who want to be an innovator in their community? If they have an idea, what should there next steps be
Michelle: It’s important to find what they need first. For example, the reason why we decided to make Time Break was not only because we could not make TechBreak but also that we all have so much homework and there is not enough time to do it all and people cannot remember everything- which is the need and this is really important to us. That is why we decided to create it. It is important to look around to find what you need.
it. It is important to look around to find what you need.
Mada: The sense of the community you are living in because if you do not do something for the people that affect you or the problems that you are facing no one is going to work with you.
Michelle: Also, it is better for you to start with baby steps. For example, when we started our first app, our first project was just making a calculator app, not an entire app, so that we could learn how everything works and then relate it to your final project.
Mada: And if the person has a great idea, they should think through it and make sure everything is right because during TechBreak we just jumped in to everything and when we were making our app, we saw that there was a problem with one of the features and we had to cancel the whole making of the app. This could have been avoided if we took the process slower and we talked to people and asked if this feature will actually work.
What skills have you learned through the process of making both of your apps and will they help you in the future?
Michelle: I think definitely how to work with other people.
Mada: I agree. Also, I learned so much about coding and the fact that everything is all technology now. So, if you know how to code and how to work at the computer that is going to help you a lot in the future.
Michelle: I also learnt that you should contact whoever
you need without hesitation.
Mada: It helps you with research skills and figuring
out how to get the resources you need and being active.
Michelle: And having fun!
