THE Breaking of the Cipher
Did you know that Polish scientists, Jerzy Rozycki, Henryk Zygalski and Marian Rejewski, cracked the Enigma machine years before the British did? The Polish scientists (pictured below) made the "bombe" or the "cryptological bomb" in October 1939- it was the machine that first broke the Enigma. Since the Nazi's changed the pattern of the cipher every few months, they turned to the Allies for help.
