A savant of the perfume market in
Bahrain, Nancy says she notices even the
male customers are drawn to the scent
of Hasu-no-Hana, Golden Chypre, which
is part of the Black Label collection, and
even the Saffron Rose as it has hints of
oud in it, a truly precious scent for those
within the region. Having being placed
in 32 countries, Nancy and the Brooke
family note that it is interesting to see how
certain regions react more to certain scents
compared to others, such as in Bahrain
where customers prefer the powdery
scents of Shem-el-Nessim and Amelia. The
perfumes, which are retailed exclusively
at Trousseau in Bahrain, have quick found
a loyal customer base who understand
the importance of having a novelty scent
they can call their own.”Both parties
have the same values of handpicking the
products and have a beautiful story to tell,
as they are both family owned businesses.
I don’t work with anything that I have not
tried myself or believe in, and Grossmith
perfumes are what I look for when I seek a
scent for myself”, Nancy says of their close
relationship.
Much like the Grossmith perfumes,
the elegant aesthetic of Trousseau is also
carefully curated by Nancy herself, where
she personally selects the items to be
placed in her plush boutique. “Trousseau”
itself meaning the presents a bride takes
with her before she gets married, defines
the precious nature of the items that are
retailed at the shop, and it comes as no
surprise that Grossmith perfumes are part
of that beautiful gesture and tradition that
has been carried on for centuries.
