Staying true to their idea of reviving
only select scents, Grossmith currently has
9 perfumes in 3 collections: The Classic
Collection (Phul-Nana, Hasu-no-Hana,
and Shem-el-Nessim) and their modern
fragrances in The Royal Collection
(Betrothal and Diamond Jubilee Bouquet)
and The Black Label Collection. Each
perfume in each collection holds a story of
its own as to why it was created and it was
that story that drew Nancy Al Zain to the
Grossmith perfumes on one of her trips to
the United Kingdom. “I actually heard the
end of a story about one of the perfumes.
The salesman was talking to a customer
and I asked him to tell me the story again”,
Nancy says and adds the story behind why
each perfume was created is so important
and upon smelling the fragrance, its story
made sense. Nancy explains that each of
the ingredient added to the perfume has a
reason and it’s those special combinations
that give the perfumes each of their
independent identities. Perfumes such as
Saffron Rose have a velvety scent, whereas
Shem-el-Nessim carries a more powdery
touch to it, and Floral Veil is aptly named as
it is akin to wearing a light veil netted veil.
As each perfume carries its own unique
persona, it is easy for the wearers to choose
between them to use a scent that best
fits with their own, or multiple fragrances
across the various collections that they can
resonate with. Customers can layer the
perfumes, or wear them individually and as
the day progresses, the oils of the perfume
mix with the body and create a completely
new fragrance exclusive to the wearer. The
wide range also offers a scent for each
occasion, so whether it is a day time affair,
or an evening soiree, Grossmith caters to
each occasion independently. Keeping in
mind even the small details, which is one of
the trademark of luxury of Grossmith, the
perfumes are poured in a chic bottle that
pays homage to the heritage bottles with
subtle hints on the caps. Carefully choosing
the look, Amanda says the packaging was
created keeping in mind art and history and
are reminiscent of the Art-Deco period with
an understated and classic design. With
packaging designed by Eleanor, Grossmith
perfumes come in a sleek bottle, which
is available in two different sizes as well,
making it convenient for the customers to
carry the smaller size with them.
