It’s quite baffling to me how people view fashion, and the industry as a whole.
I often hear that it’s frivolous, superficial; a waste of time, and any individual
partaking a role within the industry is minuscule. It’s fair to say that I’ve
eliminated such individuals from my life; therefore I hear none of that anymore.
What I hear now, involves the amount of effort put into a muslin draft of a dress,
the way the French curve alternates, and compliments a female figure, and the
endless amount of fabric used to form a drape through a bias cut. It’s enriching,
and calming – call it a form of meditation if you’d like (at least just until the
buyer orders come in). I was enlightened by all of that through Haya Khalifa,
and her mother Nabila Al Aissaoui, a mother daughter duo that run the Bahrain
based brand “Naseem Al Andalos”.
