Safe & Supportive Schools
AJ Juliani, author, former teach-
er and Director of Technology
for Centennial School District,
kicked off the school year with a
motivational message for faculty
and staff about the importance of
empowering students and cre-
ating a place for connections to
occur.
The district continues
its commitment to the
School-Wide Positive
Behavioral Intervention
and Supports (SWPBIS)
approach, which teaches
behavioral expectations in
the same manner as any
core subject and stresses
character traits such as
respect and responsibili-
ty. Positive behaviors are
reinforced and rewarded.
Seen at right are some
South Elementary School
students who were hon-
ored for their good deeds.
The PV Olympics event held
each spring brings students
with special needs together
for friendly competitions
outside. Led by older peers,
the students have the chance
to participate in various con-
tests and work in teams.
Through its partnership with Be a Part of the Conver-
sation, middle school students engaged with Dr. Matt
Bellace, a neuropsychologist and youth motivational
speaker who emphasized the importance of seeking nat-
ural highs and later spoke with parents about marijuana
and how it affects the developing brain.
