Safe & Supportive Schools
We believe...
...in providing a safe and healthy environment.
...in cultivating supportive and inclusive school commu-
nities valuing each student.
...that all individuals must have respect for self, others,
and their environment.
One of the other three shared values from the comprehensive plan is to make our
schools safe and supportive. That can encompass installing security cameras;
hiring security personnel, elementary school counselors and social workers; and
organizing programs and events that promote student well-being. Over the 2018-
19 school year, the School Board and administration also worked to initiate a new
elementary wellness curriculum to support social emotional learning. On these
pages, you will learn about several of the initiatives that took place over the last
year to enhance the district’s learning environment.
The PV Partners for Equity & Inclusion group held
several meetings in the 2018-19 to advance the dis-
trict’s goal of providing equity of experience for all and
ensuring that all students feel welcome and respected
in school.
Dr. Julie Causton, founder and CEO
of Inclusive Schooling and a Syracuse
University professor for the Inclusive
and Special Education Program, vis-
ited with faculty and staff to deliver a
motivational message and participate
in professional development activities
during an Act 80 Day. Her message
emphasized Perkiomen Valley School
District’s desire to be more inclusive
when delivering instruction.
