“When I visited the museum, I realised how different life was
in our village in times of old. When considering the way
people worked, I was impressed by the miners’ boots, made
by the shoemaker at his little desk. As far as the way of
cooking is concerned, I could but notice the copper cauldron,
that used to contain boiling water for home-made pasta, in the
burning hearth, while today in the museum it hangs from the
ceiling with a rope, in an evocative way. As for the woman’s
daily tasks, I was struck by the fact that she used to sew with
an old sewing machine that required the application of much
strength to its handle and pedal. The childhood section has
many old-fashioned objects on display, such as old pens and
inkwells, and toys such as the rocking horse with an iron head
and the white plastic body, the “ruzzola,” a typical toy from
Roviano, a wheel that people let roll in the streets to amuse
children… This museum is so rich in history, it has been very
nice to visit it again.”
