ROUND TABLES DISCUSSIONS

1. RTD SESSION PLANNING TEMPLATE

Select topic from transmission to be discussed/debated during roundtable.(You may wish to ask students for input here)

STEP 1:

Choose resources for students to use. Select from materials used in, or relevant to the weeks lecture (e.g. Journal, film, book chapter etc.).

Review question stems to develop over-arching/ guiding question and to create sub-topic questions to spiral to conclusion during the roundtable discussion.

Create between 3 & 4 Support questions to ensure depth and completeness of the discussion.

e.g., How does Taylorism compare with aspects of the gig economy?

e.g., What are the features of gigging in the modern economy?

Assign Teams of 4-6 and have them quickly select a moderator from within their group.

STEP 4:

Conduct discussion activity. Use the RTD Discussion Notes Template (page 15) to direct the discussion. Make sure to actively monitor and ensure conversations are happening. As rounds are completed review final activity – Consensus building and justification

STEP 6:

Wrap up/ Poll each group on their final consensus with provided support. You could use any areas of contention, points of confusion or areas of interest to inform the following weeks lecture choice
