TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP: A Do or Die Challenge

elcome 2013 with inspiring hope and love!
Faced with new issues and dilemmas at the workplace, the People Manager cannot simply‘ wait and see’ as the twister wind of change is blowing hard setting apart those who can“ swim” and those who“ sink!” No longer can complacency transition and survive in this age of“ Do or Die”. The Leadership must act … naturally at a rush speed of time.
This first issue of People Manager( PM) magazine transcribes Transformational Leadership( TL) in many ways. Be that as it may, let us first understand what Transformational Management( TM) is. TM is perceived as an approach to company Leadership. It situates that Management leads the organization through a transformation in direction, processes or other critical elements of operation. TM typically involves proactive adjustments to company vision or direction and the subsequent management of strategic moves. TM may elevate to TL.
Transformational Leaders( TL) must not only guide the changes taking place in the organization but manage and positively sustain employee morale, which is often a challenge during times of change. Employees must feel excited and confident about how they are directed.
TLs must have high energy and enthusiasm to affect their followers. They must inspire toward a common purpose; be proactive since they must seek to make these changes before they become necessary and critical. Change Management is part of a strategic manoeuvre versus a reactive move of desperation. Once decisions are made for such changes, TLs must communicate the change needs and encourage employees to stay positive during and throughout the transition.
We welcome Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez, FPM or JJ as he pledged to write monthly his thoughts on“ What Matters Most”. I personally thank all the current and incoming writer-contributors for staying with me as Chief Editor for 2013. I am confident that everyone will breathe fresh insights as they share wealth of knowledge and practice through their articles in our PM Magazine this term and ahead. In the subsequent pages, we will find that President Grace has openly divulged her agenda of Global Competitiveness as an HR Mandate and what her agenda of‘ dreams’ are for our PMAP.
Let us read on!
