www.peopleandmanagement.com we need to build, but the whole curriculum shoukld be such that the overall personality of the students develop. These days, teachers are well recognizing the fact that teaching is not about helping students score well, it is rather about helping them build their understanding about everything. Children are full of latent potential. All they need is a little nudge from a good mentor, which generally is the teacher. A good teacher knows that her students have a great capacity to understand- if not science and maths, then the languages; if not languages, then Art, Music or Sport! Their role is to help them build a vision and nourish it with their support. Talent seed comes from home, but it buds up to be a fl owerng plant and a fruit bearing tree at school and college level. .Peter Drucker’s Management by objectives or MBO is an approach, considered to be one of the best ways towards decisiveness. In school standards at global level, academic Olympiads establish competitive spirit among the YOLO generation and develop curiosity to fi nd ways to advance. In the Indian context, the primary up till secondary education is designed to harvest with all the necessary subjects that give the basic understanding to students and later at the high school level, they are given the choice for the stream they wish to opt- Commerce, Science, Computers or Humanities.. But, for a lot of students, this is dubious. Sometimes, they choose a particular fi eld out of their interest, but their aptuitude does not support them. Sometimes, they choose their subjects because they have been told that their aptitude lies in it, but their interest ditches them. Other times, they pick a stream by their parents’ choice and their attitude towards it fails them. This gap is strong and becoming much stronger in the recent arena. For example, We wll fi nd many engineering, management and medical students have been found to be prominent even in other fi elds of art, literature, music and philosophy. Nevertheless, this is the value addition with reference to latent talent vis a vis the pathfi nding approaches in the middle of their career. Though, this shows the strength and values of an individual that they learn in the beginning of their studies. Here plays a major role of curriculum to make a clear mindset of students towards career mapping and contribution in the respective fi eld. The gap of the career deviations and fi lling it exactly with the value fi llers is important. When we fi ll it with values, the right cognitive, affective and behavioural components automatically get etched to it. This helps the youth to build the right base for the future. In the war fi elds, soldiers perform and then at a time, they retire or take voluntary retirement. Even after that they do something productive towards the national interest. This attitude is in fact a universal interest per se, for every citizen, across any country and could indirectly weigh for high worth. Sports, corporate, banking and other fi elds also have their own signifi cance for shaping the nations goodwill. The biggest gap of deviation from profession can be decreased by imparting strong values and commitment in school education. This intervention solely cannot be implemented but a committee on higher education can create such opportunities for school students, while considering the scope and limitations found after research and development. A few measures that directly relate to the future context are: 1. School policies advised to be based on strong Research & Development (R&D) recommendations. 2. Ethics as core values – Ethics as a subject as well as a check on student’s morality ground while considering their families in interactions. 3. Technology as a compulsory component that has already been adopted by several schools. 4. In shaping at macro level, it needs right change interventions and management. Former CEO and chairman of General Electric, said it very well - ‘‘If the rate of change on the outside exceeds the rate of change on the inside, the end is near.’’ 5. Curriculum design and timely modifications are strongly recommended. 6. A total personality evaluation alongwith the adoption of compulsory aptitude tests for all students. 7. Parent Teacher Meeting not just for sharing the result and complaints, but for discussions with them about what would they want their children to be. How are they contributing at home to ensure punctulity, nation building and service thought and the corrective measures for their child’s unacceptable behaviour. 8. Sensitization sessions for parents, teachers and students for eductional empowerment and rights and duties as citizens of a nation. Though, here the biggest harrowing factor is the commercialization of education. Nevertheless, maximum private school chains have refurbished their system, keeping in mind the overall development of the children, including the monitoring of ethical values. Interventions on the part of govenment include projects such as ‘Right to education’ and ‘Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan’.. Still the future of the nation is required to mitigate in developing the mental revolution again from the talent seeds and nourishing them. It should be a ‘think big’ phenomenon to bring the education system out from the dark. P & M Vol. 10 Issue 3 • MARCH 2019, Delhi NCR | 41
