An infra-red system from Heraeus Noblelight
has dramatically reduced energy costs in the
coating of board for food packaging at the
Stroud factory of The Olympic Varnish Com-
pany Ltd. By eliminating the use of steam, the
new system has also reduced board spoilage
caused when there are unanticipated line
stoppages. MANN+HUMMEL is introducing a new
generation of mechanical oil mist and
oil smoke eliminators for the mechanical
engineering industry. It is characterized by
EC motors with resistance control which
considerably reduces energy costs and
minimizes noise emissions. The extraction
systems run for up to two years without the
need for maintenance. The service of the
filtration stages is simple. These advantages
reduce the total cost of ownership for
operators in comparison to other systems in
the market. The product is flexible, with the
possibility to combine a single oil eliminator
with a machining center or the possibility
to link several oil eliminators to a central oil
separator.
Olympic Varnish coats a variety of packaging
for food products, ranging from sandwiches,
cakes and patisserie to fish and pizza. Polymer
coatings are applied to act as a double
barrier, preventing any seepage or migration
of grease or liquid components of the food
from inside the packaging or any leeching of
materials which might taint the product into
the packaging.
