Theta Rho Omega Chapter Basileus Message Page 5 Hi Theta Rho Omega Chapter Sorors….On a VERY SERIOUS NOTE My Heartfelt Thanks to each of you for stepping up in response to calls for help from our Supreme Basileus, Soror Dorothy Buckhanan with respect to the devastating results of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Theta Rho Omega you stepped up to the plate in a HUGE way!! Many of us donated time and hundreds of pounds of toiletries in response to the call for assistance at New Faith Church in Matteson, Illinois. Others donated book bags for children returning to school that were impacted by these storms. Finally, due to your generosity, Theta Rho Omega has collected a and will donate total of $720.00!! -------THANK YOU-------THANK YOU-----THANK YOU------- For many Theta Rho Omega Sorors, Summer 2017 flew by with vacations, relaxation and family fun in addition to sorority related training and development. One of my summer highlights was attending the mid-July Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorpo- rated, 2017 Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Las Vegas sun and heat aside, this was a VERY productive and positive conference. My primary focus at the conference was the ten hour, two day Chapter Basileus Certification Seminar. It was one of the best sessions I’ve ever at- tended, with an outstanding focus on essential Leadership topics. Many Thanks to our Anti-Basileus, Soror Jacqueline Brown, who also attended the Leadership Conference. She is now a bonafide Risk Management Expert!! Additional Thanks to the many other Theta Rho Omega Sorors in attendance at the Leadership Conference. They were able to take advantage of the various certifications, workshops, forums, community service projects, and luncheons that took place during the very busy four day confer- ence. KUDOS to Soror Faye Terrell Perkins and the Leadership Development Committee and the Theta Rho Omega Chapter Retreat Planning Committee for conducting Theta Rho Omega Chapter’s 3 rd Annual overnight retreat, “Blazing the Trail to 50 Years of Service and Sisterhood”. This Retreat was just fabulous!! In addition to Sisterly Relations, sorors presented and participated in Risk Management Problem Solving, presentations on Program Committee Work, Protocol, as well as Team Challenges, a TRO stroll---and a wedding ceremony between Theta Rho Omega and the Jose- phine Elizabeth Seaton Franklin Foundation!! Another highlight was our guest speaker, Soror Erica Everett, the EAF Executive Director, who gave us an interesting perspective about the work of EAF—the Educational Advancement Founda- tion --Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority I ncorporated’s foundation. (Sorors please be sure to take home a copy of the EAF 2016 Annual Report) Theta Rho Omega Sorors—please be alert for meeting notices for our chapters 50 th Anniversary Celebration planning meetings. Soror Patricia Jones Banks NEEDS EVERYONE’S input during our planning stages and that includes YOU!! Yours In Service, Soror Jacqueline Richardson, Basileus
