ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Having worked with labels in New York and Atlanta , CFD Director of Design Mallory Atkins is at the helm of bringing the pieces to life and focuses on color , trends , and uniqueness , including partnering with artists to produce one-of-a-kind prints and style .
SUPPORTING + COLLABORATING WITH ARTISTS
Cake For Dinner recently collaborated with artist Caitlin Alderfer . “ Caitlin is an incredible artist and surface pattern designer . Her artistic style is bright and colorful and playful , and we just love working with her . She takes our inspiration and creates something beautiful that we then turn into a printed design for our clothing . It ’ s such a cool experience to watch her create . To see those creations turn into fabric is so fun ,” says Mallory .
CREATIVE PROCESS
The CFD team starts with a theme for each collection , and hones in on
specific details that they want to highlight with each piece .
“ For example ,” says Mallory , “ when we worked with Caitlin on prints , she created a beautiful floral garden toile by drawing the floral motifs and placing them into a design . We even included little hidden elements as a nod to our roots in Georgia with a peach branch , and there ’ s a little key in the design giving it a ‘ secret garden ’ feeling .”
“ We focus on finding other women-owned businesses for our brand . We partner with almost all women behind the scenes at Cake for Dinner from our branding , social media , and PR to production .” — Chambless Kalka
