From Robert, Dear Get Real what are some things that
will stop me from contacting helplines and getting onto
website’s to help with my addiction?
Thank you for writing in Robert, Yes there is things that could get in your way when trying to
contact a helpline or a helpful website about drug abuse first of all you may not have an
internet connection so you cannot connect to the drug and alcohol addiction website’s and
you may not have a phone to ring the helpline and you may also not be able to get a letter to
a PO box for one of the places.
From Kate, Dear Get Real how can I help my friend
access helpline or websites for drug abuse?
Thank you for writing in Kate, You can help your friend out if she does not have internet you
can find her a friend who is willing to let her use theirs or they can go to a place like a library
or MacDonald’s to have free Wi-Fi and if your friend does not have a phone to ring a helpline
she can see if any of her close friends have a phone she can borrow one or if she has any
money she could find a payphone to talk to the helpline and if she doesn’t she may be able
to use Skype to call a helpline with their calling features and if she can’t send a letter out to a
PO box she can probably find a friend with stamps and an envelope and get the stuff from
her friends.
