Llandudno- the Don ' ts :
Don ’ t forget your outdoorsy gear including walking boots , wetsuits , waterproofs and lots of cosy layers . Recommendations of places to go include : The Great Orme is a little hike that is within walking distance from the accommodation and offers beautiful views over Llandudno and its pier . The Little Orme is the sister mountain on the other side of the town where seals can often be sighted – if you ’ re lucky !
Conwy is a little town that is a 10 minute drive away and has a castle that is worth visiting . You can walk around the castle walls and there are a lot of little shops to potter about in . Snowdonia is only a short drive from the accommodation so if you fancy walking up Wales ’ tallest mountain this is the option for you . Aber Falls is a waterfall that is 30 minute drive away from the accommodation and has been Fru ’ s favourite experience of this trip . West Shore and Colwyn bay are magnificent beaches that are perfect for a gentle stroll or a refreshing dip for those of you brave enough !
Don ’ t forget to bring your favourite mug , the kitchen is well stocked but a cup of tea doesn ’ t taste quite right unless it ’ s in your own mug . There is a cafetiere at the accommodation but as it ’ s glass I wonder if it will stand the test of time .
And lastly , don ’ t worry about placements . There are two placements sites in Rhyl where you will be placed in pairs , another in Betws y Coed and if you ’ re the luckiest one that is directly opposite the university accommodation which is a stone ’ s throw away . The teaching is fantastic and you will get the opportunity to see your own patients and present them to different GPs .
