The Pennsylvania Dental Association Dental Identification Team ( PADIT ) is activated to the scene of the Executive Air crash at the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre Airport . Nineteen people died in this crash of a charter flight from Atlantic City . This call to action represented the third activation for PADIT since its formation .
One of three planes hijacked in the terrorist attack on the United States , United Flight 93 , crashes in Shanksville , Somerset County . On September 12 PADIT members were activated to the scene to identify the victims of the crash .
