The goal of the POA is to keep our beautiful Country Club, beautiful.  Nothing is more upsetting than to keep your yard clean and weed free  only to see your  neigh- bor’s yard FULL of weeds.  The wind starts blowing and then here come all those weed seeds. Our CC&R’S state: “Weeds over 12” high or more are in violation.” Additionally there is a county-wide ordinance; 1997-2 stating : Property owners are to maintain their property free of weeds. Your property goes all the way to the road- way to include all drainages that abut your property, this includes the drainage ditches.   PCC News monthly is not responsible for unsolicited manuscripts. PCCNewsMonthly.com  We as an association want all the properties to look their best and want all of our members to be proud to live here in the Prescott Country Club.  We can do this with all your help. If you have a neighbor that is not taking care of their property please come and see Marge at the office and fill out a WEED form. She will request a board mem- ber pass the property to verify the complaint. If the complaint is valid, we will contact that neighbor (not using you name) and ask them to take care of it.  We do have a process we follow in an attempt to correct the problem.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Bob Heise  CC&R compliance Committee Chairperson CONTROLLING THE PACK RAT SITUATION From time to time I get calls from members who are fighting with pack rats. Since summer is upon us, it is time to look around your property and start cleaning up. Your property will not only look better but it will keep the little pests away and prevent you from getting a violation letter. So, here is a little info: The rats don’t like daylight. They come out at night to feed, find water, and perhaps start another nest in- side the old inoperable car in your driveway. (By the way you can expect a violation letter from the office any time now!) The rats like anywhere in or out of your home that is dark. To keep them away from your property, clear the areas where you have any type of accumulation like wood piles, boxes, debris and junk. Don’t use your front/back porch or carport as a stor- age unit for appliances, couches, etc. (Again, this is a violation of the CC&R’s). If you have any low grow- ing bushes, trim them up so they aren’t touching the ground and clear your property from leaves. Look around and think like a rat: “if it’s warm, dark, out of the weather, it is my new home”!   They will chew through anything to get nesting material. Don’t use poison to kill the rats. Poison takes a week or more to do its job and in the meantime you will have more rats because they think the poison is food (Weird, isn’t it). If a cat or hawk gets hold of the poi- soned rat before it is dead, the cat or hawk is history also in about a week. Use traps to kill them and clear out the nests immediately.   The moral of the story: If you clean up your property you won’t get a violation letter and you won’t get pack rats!
