Michel Chikwanine was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He has experienced the civil war, and poverty. He was forced to leave his home country at the age of 11 as a refugee. Chikwanine has traveled to 35 African countries, witnessing the problems faced by the developing world. Much of his childhood was consisted of death and decay of a war that took the lives of 5.8 million people, including his father, and forced him to become a child soldier. Michel inspires people to believe in themselves to make a difference and leaves his audiences with a new perspective on life and a desire for change.

Michel is a motivational speaker and author of Child Soldier: How Boys and Girls Are Used In War. He has spoken to over 100,000 people and has inspired people to believe in their ability to create change.
