Well, here’s a quick survey of those who have been home (either this winter or at some other point in time): 1.) Where did you fly out of? • Skopje - 4 • Sofia – 5 2.) Did you face any flight troubles? • Only really early flights out of Skopje - what’s up with that? • My connecting flight cancelled so I had to stay over night and catch another flight the next day • Other airlines not knowing where Skopje is, let alone where my connection was • My baggage was lost in transit • The baggage claim guy did not know where my final destination was and made me carry my checked luggage all the way to the plane • No problems - When I checked in and told the airline guy I was with Peace Corps, he updated my ticket to business class! 3.) Was there a reason to go home? • Nothing special - 2 • Holidays - 4 • Family event – 3 4.) How long were you gone? • 1-2 weeks - 3 • 2-3 weeks – 6 5.) How many ethnic restaurants did you go to? • One to four - 5 • Five or more - 5 Note: Restaurants included Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Pakistani, Italian, Middle Eastern, a Jewish diner and American diners 6.) On a scale of 1-10 (10 being all the damn time, 1 being not at all), how often did people ask you to speak in Macedonian or Albanian? • Zero - 1 • One - 3 • Two - 3 • Five – 2 7.)
