Many schools already have volunteering programs where students either during or after school, donate their time to a service project. With service learning
educators find ways to take what students are learning in
the classroom and apply it directly to what is needed in
our community. For example: students learning English
can volunteer to be translators at a hospital and students
in an art class can teach art to the developmentally disabled. As we can all see there are no special requirements for becoming a volunteer. All you need is the desire to help the others and the strength to carry on. But
deep inside ourselves we keep asking the same old question: “How does volunteering helps the world?” We send
packages with food, clothes and toys to children all over
the world, we give companionship to the old and lonely
