Mongolia or Bust! Peace Corps Macedonia Bids Farewell to Jim Carl Jim, I feel like we are losing our rock, our touchstone here in Macedonia. The calm and ever-clever, clear-eyed voice of experience and all things PC moves on. Oh Admin Guy how we will miss you! So off you go to Mongolia! Genghis Khan you are not, but have no fear, the Mongolian horses (don’t call them ponies no matter how short they appear) are very accepting of beginning riders – or experienced ones for that matter. Women are now allowed to partake in almost all forms of manly sports in Mongolia now except wrestling. So, there is only a small amount of work left to be done on gender equality, how nice. Jim, I wish you all the best in Mongolia, and I have just one piece of advice. Yak butter is not brown. Take care, Dennis Wesner Dear Jim, For the Way We Were, we won’t be the same without your hard work and commitment to the Way We Are. I hope you’ll think often of Komendant Koki and best of luck to you and your family. Thanks for your humorous insight dedication. Yours, David Fox Finally, the best of luck to you and yours. Oh and by the way, I hear the fermented mare’s milk is to die for. Take good care. PHOTOGRAPH BY KATRINA MEREDITH Nancy (Wilson) Thank you for brightening our lives with your humor and wit. I have really enjoyed you being a part of the MAC 11 entry into “the toughest job” we’ll “ever love” and you have made it more enjoyable! Have a great time in Mongolia. Rachel WhiTford Keep making joyful music with your life! Yo Jim, Thanks for being a super-cool AO, for juggling multiple cell phones at once, for Pauza stories about chorapi, for your water distiller cleaning tips, and for being a madman tee-shirt distributor. Most importantly, thanks for puting the whole crazy two-year adventure into perspective with your lunchtime wisdom. Best of luck in Mongolia! P.S. If you discover yak meat is more amazing than being chased by roosters and peacocks on morning runs, let me know. Chao! Anne Withers Katrina Meredith PAUZA PauzaVol5.2.indd 3 6/29/07 12:30:57 PM
