Day Eight: Bus to Bertrint from Saranda, paid entrance fee (forgot how much, but cheap) – explored the old ruins on self-guided
tour – a must see UN World Heritage Site! Took a taxi back to Saranda and caught a bus to Gijrocaster. The bus broke down twice
on the way, but we made it. After arriving, we found a hotel and
explored the castle and old town. Gijrocaster, “city of stone,” is
also a World Heritage Site. Fabulous!
Day Ten: Furgon to Pogradec from Korca (south side of Lake
Ohrid) – an hour; taxied to the border, walked across, and grabbed
a bus to Ohrid. Home!
Entire trip: 200-300 Euro each. Al ate lots of lamb & seafood on
this trip but only ended up spending 30 euros per day for “everything” and this was “high tourist season.” Enjoy!

in Ukraine. From the sound of it, such a delay might seem like
a maddening experience, but in fact, it was quite enjoyable. The
ship had a fine restaurant, we saw the sun set and rise over the
Bosporus, and the onboard disco and our fellow party-hardy passengers served as a nice distraction. And the down time was a
nice break from the previous 48 hours of traveling.
