Cruel Injustices

By Patrick Barron

Women are finally pushing for the rights we deserve! We are tired of our low wages, and want change now! We have managed to get 4,000 people to sign a Women’s Labor Petition. If the petition succeeds every woman in America will rejoice. We are treated unfairly in factories. Even before this era, our lives have been different. We never were as lucky as the men with jobs and pay. We have lower wages and are replaced more often. A well fought battle exposes the cruel injustices of the conditions and wages of factories. Due to our low pay, we cannot support our family.

As a result, even children have to work in factories because the parents cannot make enough money to support the family. Children should not be able to work in factories, and should be required to go to school. The children come home after working 10 hour shifts to teach themselves to read. They find the nearest library and devour every book inside. The children want to go to school, but are forced to spend the days in factories. It is a crime to deprive the children of the opportunity to learn.

Children have developing young minds that must be put to use for the work force of the next generation. Without the opportunity to learn, brilliant young minds are wasted. If we win our battle for equal wages, the children will be able to go to school because we can support the family without them working. This is a pressing issue that must be resolved quickly. America watches with growing anticipation for women’s rights. If we lose, our children will be forced to follow in our footsteps and thus continue this vicious cycle.
