America’s Working Conditions Exposed!

Working conditions around the country have been exposed! Many factories have horrible working conditions. Children work for long hours, and women have lower wages! Children too young to even attend school end up working in factories to support their families. They have smaller fingers that are better suited to handling small parts. However, they work full time and often have accidents with the machines. Some children are even killed in tragic accidents. Lewis Hine has exposed many horrifying examples of Child Labor. He often has to fool factory owners to get inside.
Women work for half the pay of men in most factories. Factory owners say that the more productive people get paid more, but even the best women workers are paid lower than the men. Women are furious and are currently making Womens’ Labor Petitions. If they succeed, people will be payed equally regardless of sex.
Newspapers across the country are watching this petition with interest. Mixed opinions on Womens’ Labor Rights are filling the headlines. The publicity can be good or bad, depending on the public opinion. If it sways in their favor, the Court will be pressured to approve. However, with a new era rapidly approaching, it might not matter to some women because they will be replaced by machines. However, new factories will take them in as more and more open their doors.
