OFFICER GARNER , METRO REENTRY FACILITY
Correctional Officer ( CO ) Garner has been employed with the Department for two years . In this time , she has dedicated herself to the mission and population of Metro RF . Her exemplary standards , determination and workmanship have elevated her to the status of Field Training Officer . CO Garner ’ s pleasant demeanor and willingness to pitch in before being asked caused many of her peers to turn to her for wisdom in the short time she has been with the Department . With a motivation level such as this and the exemplary standards she exudes daily , we know that CO Garner will grow to great heights in this field .
LIEUTENANT HAMMOND , METRO REENTRY FACILITY
Lieutenant ( Lt .) Hammond has worked for the state of Georgia for 13 years , with his last five years dedicated to the Georgia Department of Corrections ( GDC ). He started his career with the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice , working his way up to a Lt . before transferring to Metro Reentry Facility ( RF ), where he has since served as a CERT Officer , Sergeant , and currently as Shift OIC - Lt .
Since he arrived at Metro R , Lt . Hammond has always said and continues to answer the call with “ Yes ,” no matter what task has been asked of him . He is an excellent asset to the GDC with a passion that truly reflects the mission of developing professional staff .
SERGEANT MANN , METRO REENTRY FACILITY
Sergeant ( Sgt .) Mann began her career with the Georgia Department of Corrections ( GDC ) in 2018 . Her smile and pleasant demeanor have been consistent since day one . When guests enter Metro Reentry Facility ( RF ), they often comment on the warm welcome from Sgt . Mann . Her career with GDC has included being a Field Training Officer , and she has recently completed the Lieutenants ’ Academy in preparation for the next step . Her ambitions , professionalism , and attention to detail make her an excellent example for others . There is nothing asked of Sgt . Mann that she cannot and will not do to ensure that the mission of Metro RF is met .
SHANDRA THOMAS , METRO REENTRY FACILITY
Shandria Thomas started at Metro Reentry Facility in 2018 as a Correctional Officer and was promoted to a Disciplinary Report ( DR ) Investigator . Mrs . Thomas then became a Behavior Health Counselor , assisting with group facilitation and meaningful contacts with the returning citizens . In 2020 , Mrs . Thomas was promoted to Senior Counselor and took on the role of helping to guide newer counselors on the team . She can often be found correcting , guiding , and positively impacting the lives of our returning citizens . Mrs . Thomas stands as proof that within the department , one has the opportunity to grow and pour into others as we venture into different paths .
