Writing Task 2

In the song Patches, Clarence Carter chronicles his harrowing childhood and family life, with his father who used to work hard to support the whole family and climate problems. Horrifying as the situation was, Clarence Carter expresses his pain in taking the father’s place after his death.

Patches had to become a grown man when he was only 13, to support his family. The accusation made by the song is about the harsh life of poor families in Alabama and about all the kids that lost and are still losing their childhood to support their families.

Writing Task 2

In Patches, Clarence Carter was the one person who lends the meaning to suffering and rescues dignity from disaster, which was the most important thing that happened to Patches’ life.

It consists on Clarence singing a song about life of Patches, when his father died and he had to move on as he promised to his father.

Clarence chronicles how hard were to study and work to raise his family and he wanted to drop out school, however education was the most important thing to his father.

He always listened to his mother praying for him to be strong, and he was always listening his father last words.
