Lighting the Way at PHSC
PHSC students and staff participate in the annual Bobcat Bowl .
Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative ’ s ( WREC ) Educational Foundation recently donated $ 152,000 to provide lighting for the softball field at PHSC ’ s West Campus Withlacoochee River Electric Co-op Park . WREC Executive Vice President and General Manager David Lambert , District Manager Joe Marina , Manager of Member Relations Gary Steele and WREC Board Trustee Desmond Little presented the generous gift among PHSC staff , students and alumni prior to the Bobcat Bowl , the annual faculty versus students flag football game .
In 2021 , WREC provided funding for lighting to be installed
on PHSC ’ s baseball field , which has led to an estimated 200 % increase in the number of people who attend events at Withlacoochee River Electric Co-op Park . Their investment has allowed for a variety of organizations to utilize the baseball field for evening tournaments , intercollegiate games and community and student events .
The softball field lighting will bring approximately 50 additional youth sporting events to PHSC . The partnership with WREC will continue to provide the opportunity to bring underserved children and parents to not just any college environment but one that is accessible to reach their educational goals now and in the future .
