A Day of Discovery – LSAMP Visit Clearwater Marine Aquarium

Students from PHSC ’ s Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program ( LSAMP ) embarked on an educational journey on October 20 at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium ( CMA ). The informative field trip consisted of several interactive activities , such as a two-hour snorkel experience , close-up interactions with the area ’ s intertidal animals , a seine-netting activity and more . Students not only participated in various engaging sessions but also had the opportunity to explore the intricacies of CMA ’ s departments and uncover potential paths in the competitive field .

Witnessing the Magic of the Solar Eclipse

PHSC hosted a stellar evening with certified NASA Solar Eclipse Ambassadors at the Solar Eclipse Watch Party on October 12 . The PHSC community was invited to experience the mesmerizing celestial display as the sun took center stage . Throughout the cosmic event ,

Gerene Thompson , Ph . D ., assistant vice president of academic affairs and dean of arts and science . attendees were informed about eclipse safety , indulged in DIY galaxy cookies , participated in solar telescope observations and more . The first 200 attendees received free eclipse glasses . The evening was filled with attendees ranging from astronomy enthusiasts to newcomers as they enjoyed the out-of-this-world experience under the stars .
