2023 Distinguished Alumni of the Year Amanda D . Martin , RN , MSN
At the annual Distinguished Alumni Student Life and Leadership Awards Recognition Ceremony , held at the Porter Campus at Wiregrass Ranch this past spring , Amanda Martin was recognized as PHSC ’ s 2023 Distinguished Alumna of the Year .
A Florida native , Amanda Martin was born in St . Petersburg before her family migrated to Pasco County in the early 90s . Amanda ’ s interest in healthcare started early on as a volunteer at Dade City Hospital . During high school , Amanda obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant ( CNA ) license and began her journey in the nursing field . In 2000 , she graduated from PHSC with her associate degree in nursing , and in 2014 , Amanda received her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida . She went on to become an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner ( ARNP ) in Family Practice . During this time , Amanda was promoted to Chief Nursing Officer at Pasco Regional Medical Center .
During the past 27 years of working and residing in Dade City , Amanda has volunteered in many different areas . Outside of work councils , boards , and committees , she has served as the Chair of the Quality
Improvement Committee of Hernando Pasco Hospice , a Chapter ’ s Affiliate and has been a member of their board for the past 14 years . Amanda is also an Advisory Council Member for Pasco ’ s Health and Human Service for PHSC and a member of the Supervisory Committee at San Antonio Citizens Federal Credit Union .
Amanda has always been committed to making the community a better place . She was instrumental in the establishment of the Vonnie Roberts Memorial Scholarship , a scholarship created in memory of a Nursing Supervisor at the Dade City Hospital who lost her life tragically to domestic violence . Since 2009 , this scholarship has benefited many PHSC nursing students and will continue to provide financial assistance to students for years to come . This is a small testament to the tireless work Amanda has done and continues to do throughout our community .
