Former PHSC faculty member , Michael Brunnschweiler , donated $ 15,000 toward the Wings Level Aviation Scholarship . Since 2017 , the scholarship has provided $ 12,350 in funding to 12 students pursuing aviation degrees while additionally expanding an endowed scholarship to support aviation students in perpetuity .
The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring , through a nearly $ 21,000 grant , has facilitated the purchase of airway simulation training equipment . The donation will enable PHSC students in the Paramedic and other health programs to practice airway management and tracheal intubation techniques safely in clinical settings .
Mary Ann Buel generously supported the PHSC Friends of the Foundation Fund that assists where the need is greatest . Ms . Buel previously established the Ervin Hasse Endowed Scholarship in 2018 to assist non-traditional female students who demonstrate financial need .
The Janis L . Hill Scholarship will continue to fund two scholarships per semester thanks to significant contributions from Janis ’ family members , Elizabeth Vorsheck , Ken Hill , Kenny Hill and Jefferey Hill . The scholarship was established in 2019 to assist nursing students with financial need .
Our community friend WellCare ( a Centene Company ) has responded to the unfortunate food insecurities many PHSC students have encountered with the pandemic . Through a $ 5,000 grant , PHSC students in need were provided grocery gift cards . Additionally , funds were used to re-establish PHSC campus Bobcat Food Pantries once on-campus operations resumed .
In memory of their parents , Carol Miglino and Joan Kohout have continued to support PHSC student scholarships . The Mary E . Kohout , R . N . Scholarship will award two semester nursing student scholarships while the Henry Kohout , Jr . Scholarship will award two student veteran semester scholarships for the 2020-2021 academic year .
The Brooksville Kiwanis Club contributed $ 1,000 toward the Gerrie Bishop Memorial Scholarship in recognition of the educational and financial need importance of many PHSC students . The late Gerrie Bishop was the 2013 PHSC Distinguished Alumni , a longtime member of the Brooksville Kiwanis and champion of PHSC student scholarships .
Cathy Wuertz provided a donation recently in memory of her husband toward the Stephen J . Wuertz Family Scholarship . The fund was established in 2017 to assist students who are ineligible for other forms of financial aid .
During an unexpectedly trying year , the PHSC Foundation was forced to postpone many fundraising events . To respect the health and safety of our attendees as well as protect the health and welfare of our community , the 2020 PHSC Golf Tournament was suspended . The annual fundraiser provides significant funding for the PHSC Foundation to support the students and programs at PHSC . We would like to thank the following annual golf sponsors for continuing their financial support in donations . To date , more than $ 10,000 has been donated on behalf of the golf tournament .
